Originally from the Lake Pontchartrain region in Louisiana, Ian Somerhalder’s passion for biodiversity and marine ecosystems began as a child growing up near 35,000 acres of virgin marsh with his background being a 5-foot path of oyster shells. MORE

Clark Brandon was born into a New York theatrical family, so it was natural for Clark to start his career as an actor, starring in several television series. He went on to write and direct independent films, including the cult film "Skeeter" for New Line Cinema. MORE

Dr. Steve Katona works in CI's Global Marine Division helping to create the Ocean Health Index, a set of indicators that assesses the status and trends of major pressures affecting the ocean, responses of marine species and habitats, and resultant effects on human livelihoods and well-being. MORE

Our Mission
Pole-to-Pole Conservation (P2P) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to apply practical solutions to the problems facing our oceans so that people of all socioeconomic classes can thrive and live healthy productive lives.
Ultimately, we must use the oceans sustainably and regenerate oceanic systems and marine life. P2P applies science, regenerative principles, and communications to achieve our goals. We conduct our programs within the context of a changing climate. We rely on an extensive network of international government and civil society partners to achieve these outcomes. Acknowledging the depth and scope of these challenges, we develop models that can scale.
